Samsung galaxy s6 vs iphone 6 review – WHICH SHOULD YOU BUY?

Samsung galaxy s6 vs iphone 6 review It’s been an incredibly weekend, 2 brand new smartphones have been announced including the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the HTC One M9.
The HTC One M9 is more of a evolutionary update than a revolution. From the metal chassis to the internals, this phone has been tweaked, refined and optimized. HTC was very proud of their design and decided not to alter the phone too much. In fact, it’s very hard to the HTC One M9 from the M8. The designs are similar but a close inspection will reveal a ‘jewelry grade hairline finish’ as described by HTC which takes 300 hours to produce. The HTC One M9 vs iPhone 6 use the very same materials, aluminum and glass with not a piece of plastic in sight.
The iPhone 6 is slightly smaller with a dimension rating of 138.1 x 67 x 6.9mm. Galaxy S6 is at 144.6 x 69.7 x 9.61mm. The HTC One M9 vs iPhone 6 is certainly the heavier counterpart, you will feel extra heft and thickness. A price must be paid for premium materials after all. HTC One M9 vs iPhone 6 is almost 3 mm thicker. iPhone 6 is slightly lighter at 129 grams vs 157 grams. These devices look very similar in size but the iPhone 6 is the smaller more rounded counterpart.
Under the hood, the HTC One M9 vs iPhone 6 looks very overpowered. An A8 64 bit chip rated at 1.4 Ghz is competing with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 Octa core, 64 bit chip. There are 4 cores with 2.0 Ghz capability and 4 with 1.5 Ghz capability. Apple’s iPhone is dual core, while HTC’s is octa core. Only 1 GB of ram is powering the iPhone and 3 is inside the M9 with an unknown standard. Fear not though, Apple is well known for their system optimization and can make use of a smaller processor in order to achieve greater speed. HTC’s solution is to simply add more power in order to attain speed.
Camera modules on these phones are both great but the iPhone 6 is really starting to fall behind. Rear facing camera is 20 megapixels on the HTC and 8 megapixels on the iPhone. Between the HTC One M9 vs iPhone 6, megapixels aren’t everything, it’s the actual size of the camera sensor that matters. Aperture is the same on both phones at f/2.2. The iPhone 6 features new Phase Detection Focus Pixels which are usually found on most high end DSLR cameras. True Tone flash was unique to the iPhone before but can now be found on the HTC and it’s called Dual Flash, it has 2 different colored flash units which can adjust to conditions to ensure a perfect photo when using flash. Real time HDR and selective focus is found on both devices.
Video capability is also fantastic on both phones. The M9 is 4K 30 FPS capable which is quite rare to see on a smartphone, the 6 can only go up to 60 FPS at 1080P. Slow motion has been upgraded on the iPhone to achieve 240 Frames Per Second at 720p where as the M9 can only do 120. Front facing cameras are 1.2 megapixels on iPhone 6 and capable of 720p video vs 4.0 megapixels and 1080p video.
Battery life across these devices is quite good and will allow for entire day usage easily. Both of these handsets now feature non removable batteries. The iPhone can manage 250 hours of 3G standby and the HTC 402 3G standby. The HTC One M9 vs iPhone 7 also comes with fast charging mode and ultra power saving mode which the iPhone does not have.
The following is unique to the HTC One M9
  • Extreme customizability
  • Vastly superior raw power
  • Ultra power saving mode and fast charge mode
  • Split screen multitasking
The following is unique to the Apple iPhone 6
  • Very simple and straightforward user interface
  • Superior update support and physical locations
  • Apple store has a larger selection of apps
So considering all of these specs, there is no clear winner. What you want out of your smartphone will definitely influence your decision as these are both very capable handsets.
